2024 was another bumper year for the PFM blog! In its 16 years of activity, the blog has attracted over 42 million visitors, or nearly 110 million page views. Readership of the top blogs shows a dramatic recent rise – a six-fold increase since 2022 and a 25 percent rise over the last year.
Out of the 50 articles posted in 2024, 62% were written by non-IMF authors. Moreover, only one out of the top 10 articles for 2024 was authored by IMF staff. Almost 40% of articles were by other international organizations, think tanks and research institutes, finance ministries, independent consultants, and other non-IMF sources. We strongly encourage such authors to continue submitting their proposals to the Editors!
As usual, the top 10 articles posted in the past year cover a wide range of topics. Apart from core pieces on budget and finance issues, the remaining entries spanned such diverse subjects as sustainability and digital money. Artificial Intelligence (AI) featured in one-fifth of articles, which is unsurprising in a year that will be remembered for huge technological breakthroughs, particularly in Large Language Models (LLM).
Here are the articles that made the podium in 2024!
The third most viewed PFM article was Uganda's Public Debt Dilemma: What Lies Ahead in 2024 by Amos Sanday.
The second most viewed article was Management of Botswana's Diamond Revenues by Keith Jefferis
Finally, first place goes to Ramesh Kumar Nanjundaiya, for his article titled India's Decade of Economic Resurgence.
